Since writing my last post, I have been getting myself up to date on the upcoming and popular trends within the industry at the minute. From looking at what's about, it seems that a particular trend has taken the fashion world by storm, from seeing celebrities, to stylish street walkers sporting the style. Wearing fishnet tights underneath jeans is something which hasn't really been seen since the 90's, and like most things, has made a hard comeback these past couple of months. With this in mind, I decided to give it a go myself when I was hosting an Acoustic Night for charity at my university's student union bar. So here it is, how I styled my outfit using fishnets and jeans!
I knew that I wanted to wear my fishnets - which were from a fancy dress shop in Chester - with a pair of mom jeans rather than skinny jeans. I think that by wearing them with these, it adds to the whole 90's vibe a lot more, especially by wearing ones that have a lot of distressed details and rips to make the outfit really stand out and look individualistic. With this in mind, I decided to wear my grey light washed mom jeans I've had for about half a year now from BooHoo, however any type jeans would look super cool with this trend, especially boyfriend jeans!
Because of the rips still having pieces of fabric over them, you couldn't see the fishnets as much as how you would in some other jeans. Although, because of the fact you can see the fishnets about the waist and then between where the jeans end and my boots start, this still means that they're on show and makes the outfit instantly look really cool.
To then carry on the 90's look, I decided to wear this black cropped t-shirt to also ensure that you could still see the fishnets above the waistline of my jeans. This Tupac crop top adds a cool, grungy kind of vibe to the outfit and contrasts to the light wash colour of the jeans.
To finish the look off I wore a simple plain, black choker which I picked up from Primark, as this again is a typical 90's piece of fashion to wear. Finally I wore my trusty black boots to keep me comfortable for the whole night, and I think they completed the entire outfit just right.
When wearing this outfit, I felt ridiculously sassy and I think that it made a really cool and different take on a simple jeans and t-shirt look. This outfit could be applicable for anywhere, whether you're going out for a meal, or just going for a relaxed night out with your friends. One thing is to be careful when taking the jeans off the fishnets, because they can easily get attached to some parts of the jeans and end up ripping, and you do not want that!
